The 2017 Apple iPad Pro was introduced in two sizes (10.5 and 12.9-inch) at the beginning of June.

Both models share most features, so the only real difference between them is the size of the screen. The smaller iPad 10.5 costs $649 for the most affordable version. The prices of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2017) start at $799.

Both models feature Retina display with ProMotion technology. ProMotion automatically adjusts the refresh rate to the movement of the content. As a result, power consumption can be considerably reduced.

The new 64-bit A10X Fusion chip with six cores makes the 2017 iPad Pro tablets faster than most currently sold PC laptops. Thanks to the new processor, you can effortlessly play games, render 3D models, or edit 4K videos.

Both devices have full integration with Apple Pencil (sold separately), fully benefiting from the ProMotion technology.

As you see, the dimensions of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro released in 2015 and 2017 are exactly the same. However, the location of the buttons, speakers, and slots is different. Most third-party sellers have already updated product pages of their old cases with the info that they fit only first-generation iPad Pro 12.9.
