Apple’s original Smart Keyboard for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro intended to be the first choice for those Apple fans who want the ultimate keyboard for their top-shelf iPads.
Smart Keyboard, available for both iPad Pro models released in 2017, features dedicated shortuts, and the innovative design of keys.
Most importantly, it connects with the iPad with the Smart Connector. The connector transfers both data and power. There is no need, like in keyboards that connect via Bluetooth, to charge it.
There is one big disadvantage. The terrible price. The $169 price tag is way too high for an accessory that’s dedicated, most probably, for one generation iPad Pro. Obviously, when you can afford to buy the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, you can also afford the $170 accessory.
On the other hand, if you are not obsessed with everything that has the Apple logo, you can get the keyboard that’s four times cheaper.
Take a look at Fintie Blade Z1 Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad Pro 12.9. You can get it from Amazon for as little as $39.99.
First of all, the special holder puts the iPad as it would be the screen of the laptop. It’s a similar idea to what we’ve seen in, for instance, Asus Transformer Book T100.
Thanks to that you can open and close the iPad like a laptop, and adjust the angle of the iPad the way you wish. Compare it to Apple’s Smart Keyboard where there is only one angle available.
It’s also worth noting that when closed, the keyboard works like any other case, protecting the front of the iPad from scratches and dust.
Secondly, the chances are big you will be able to use the keyboard with the next generation iPad Pro 12.9 – unless the new tablet gets extremely thin and the grip will be too loose.
The keyboard is designed to behave like the one in the laptop. The keys are made from the premium ABS material. A precise mechanism underneath each key ensures a tactile response with every stroke.
Last but not least, you can choose from four colors matching the colors of the iPad: Space Gray, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold.
