Oxford Learning, Canada’s leading supplemental educator, has prepared The Complete Study Guide for Every Type of Learner, to help you study quicker and more efficiently.
The guide comes together with a nifty infographic, which analyses 4 major types of learners:
- the visual learner – more successful when studying with visual elements such as videos or images,
- the auditory learner – preferring audio elements, such as lectures, recordings, or verbalizing lessons,
- the read and write learner – most successful with textbooks, note taking, and verbalizing lessons,
- the kinesthetic learner – learns most efficiently by trial-and-error, problem solving, and hands-on activities.
Obviously, there are no clear boundaries. You can be primarily the auditory learner, but still successfully retain information from note-taking.
In the infographic, you will find descriptions of several study techniques. They are checked against types of learners, represented by icons in specific colors.
For instance, the kinesthetic learner (the yellow icon), can be good at practice tests, mixing different activities, and studying in a group of classmates.
So, which type of learner are you?
