Get two full-length audiobooks free of charge instead of one by subscribing to Audible through Amazon.
Audible is an Amazon-owned company. You can use your Amazon credentials to start an account on Audible – or rather to associate your Audible account with your Amazon profile.
In fact, you don’t have to visit Audible website at all to shop for audiobooks. You can do it directly on Amazon. The purchased titles will be automatically added to your Audible account and apps.
Conditions of use and prices of audiobooks are the same, no matter whether you shop on Amazon or Audible.
However, there is one difference. And it’s quite a big one, having in mind how much you can save.
If you sign up for Audible membership on Amazon, you get two full-length audiobooks for a start, instead of one on Audible.
At first, it’s highly unclear what these “two free Audible books” mean. You see this message on a banner at the Audible home page on Amazon (see a screenshot below).

However, when you click to open Audible membership sign up page, you will read:
Enjoy 2 free downloads, with our compliments.
And then:
Click below for 2 Audible Originals and 1 audiobook every month.

Oh, so these two free audiobooks are Audible Originals – the short-form audio entertainment pieces but not full-length “classic” audiobooks?
The only way to find out is to add Audible subscription to cart on both services, and see how they compare:
Getting Audible membership on Amazon
What do I get?
30 days of membership free, plus 2 audiobooks and 2 Audible Originals to get you started.

Getting the membership directly on Audible
What do I get?
30 days of membership free, plus 1 audiobook and 2 Audible Originals to get you started.

As you see, when you subscribe through Amazon, you get two full-length audiobooks for free during your 30-day free trial. On Audible, you get one.
The rest of membership conditions are the same. After the free trial, you will get three titles of your choice each month: one full-length audiobook and two Audible Originals. You can also cancel the subscription any time, even during the trial period.
Does one audiobook make a difference? To me, it does. Having in mind that audiobooks are a few times more expensive than ebooks, you have to assume you will have to spend at least $20 for a popular title.
And, if you have a chance to get for free any audiobook, no matter its price, you will tend to select the more expensive one. Audible bestsellers cost around $30.
In other words, $30 is your saving that comes just from the fact you start an Audible membership on Amazon.
Using Amazon to shop all things Audible is more and more convenient. Did you know you can now gift Audible membership through Amazon?
