Amazon Fire HD 10 2017 is a great entertainment tablets with a hands-free Alexa

Amazon has just announced their biggest tablet, Fire HD 10, with 1080p 10.1-inch Full HD display, longer battery life, and Alexa voice assistant that you can operate hands-free.

What would you think of having an Echo smart speaker combined with the tablet? Or a Fire tablet that would be used like Echo?

Amazon has just announced it. It’s Amazon Fire HD 10 entertainment tablet. It costs $149.99, and offers 1080p Full HD display, 32/64 GB internal memory, 2 GB of RAM, quad-core processor, and up to 10 hours of battery life.

It’s most prominent feature, though, is the ability to activate Alexa voice assistant just by using your voice.

Two other Fire tablets refreshed this year – Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 – also have Alexa on board, but you have to actually take them in your hands, press the home button, and ask Alexa.

With Alexa – and how hands-free – you can play a song or movie, check upcoming calendar events or today’s weather, get the latest news, read an audiobook, or open an application.

So, the 2017 Fire HD 10 is Amazon’s first tablet with the hands-free Alexa voice assistant. What other features can you expect from a tablet that costs only $149.99?

What about the vivid 10.1-inch 1080p Full HD display with over two million pixels? Its resolution is 1920 × 1200 pixels at 224 ppi. Compare it with the other Fire tablet with the HD display, the Fire HD 8, which offers 1280 × 800 px and 189 ppi. Don’t get too excited, though. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro, also released in 2017, has the pixel density at 264 ppi and a resolution 2224 × 1668 px.

Compared to its predecessor, the 10-inch Fire tablet launched two years ago, the 2017 Amazon Fire HD 10 is not only cheaper ($149.99 vs. $229.99). It has a better screen (1920 × 1200 px vs. 1280 × 800 px) and twice as much internal memory (32/64 GB vs. 16/32GB). It’s also 30% faster because its RAM memory was doubled.

There are, however, features that are worse than in the 2015 Fire HD. First of all, the new 10-inch Fire is heavier. Its weight is 500 g, which is 68 g more than the 2015 model.

The other thing that may disappoint is cameras. The front one was never good enough to mention, but the main rear-facing camera is only 2 MP. The 2015 model had 5 MP.

The new Fire HD 10 was announced on September 19, and is already available for pre-order. It will start shipping on October 11, 2017.

The tablet is offered in three colors: Black, Marine Blue, and Punch Red. Have you noticed the lack of Canary Yellow, available in smaller Fire models? It’s most probably because yellow was too fancy for the upper-end tablet.

You won’t see yellow among the color variants of the original Amazon Fire HD 10 (2017) case cover. The case, with the same design as seen in 7 and 8-inch Fire tablets, costs $39.99 and will be also released on October 11. The colors to choose from are Black, Cobalt Purple, Marine Blue, and Punch Red.

$149.99 is the price of Amazon Fire HD 10 variant with 32 GB and special offers. For the top version, with 64 GB and no ads, you will pay $204.99.
