Disney-themed Amazon Fire HD 8 case

The cases are designed in collaboration with Disney and National Geographic, and support the new wireless charging feature.

Announced over a month ago, the newest Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet has a new shape making cases for the previous-generation model unusable.

Third-party producers are slower than usual with launching tailored covers for the new Fire HD 8, so for the time being you can either go for an original Amazon case or a universal sleeve.

Luckily, Amazon has signed a deal with Disney to offer Mickey Mouse themed covers. Two designs are available: No Bad Days, and Mickey Through Time – something worth considering if you are planning to buy the 8-inch Fire tablet to be used by your kids.

Besides Disney, you can also see two National Geographic case covers, one with a parrot and the other one with a turtle.

Themed Fire HD 8 cases offer the same functionality as original Amazon cases, with the support for auto sleep / wake and the front folding across to form a horizontal or vertical stand. What’s important, both cases support wireless charging (HD 8 Plus model only) that’s performed by Wireless Charging Dock by Angreat.

Themed case covers cost $34.99 each, $5 more than standard Amazon fabric covers. The designs are tailored for portrait mode, and I think it’s a missed opportunity, as Amazon made a bold move to go for a landscape-first design, and the newest 8-inch Fire is the first model in the range to offer the full horizontal experience.

I hope to see more themed case covers, and not only for the newest Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet.
