Brazilian designer and illustrator Butcher Billy gets inspiration from the pop culture – especially music, comics, and movies – to come up with something unexpected and thought-provoking.

His latest project, Stephen King’s Stranger Love Songs, is genuinely simple. It answers an intriguing question: what if your favorite love songs were suspense novels written by Stephen King?
And here they are! The designs are a tribute to the original cover art of Stephen King’s novels from the 70s and 80s, naming only Misery or It.
You’ll see here George Michael’s “Careless Whisper,” “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Joy Division, “Every Breath You Take” by The Police, or Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”
Totally amazing, isn’t it? It’s a nostalgic look at the enormous influence both the songs and Stephen King’s books have on pop culture. Butcher Billy explains more on the project’s page:
The concept is to look at the dark side of love through the lenses of pop culture, bringing twisted aspects of his classic stories to play with the original meanings of the songs
The project includes fifteen song&book mash-ups. Besides the beautiful book visualizations (some of them are showcased below), you can get the artwork on a t-shirt, mug, tote bag, iPhone case, and tons of other home decor and personal items. Make sure to explore Butcher Billy’s shop on RedBubble.
