A new novel by Haruki Murakami, Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage, will be released on August 12, 2014.
“Tsukuru” means in Japanese “to make”. This inspired Suzanne Dean from a London office of Random House to create a wonderful cover design.
The book comes equipped with a sheet of stickers, so that you could personalize it. The stickers were designed by five Japanese illustrators. As Design Week reports: “Each illustrator was given a character from the novel and asked to create stickers that reflect these characters.”
The new novel from the author of Norwegian Wood and Kafka on the Shore is an amazing story of a school boy Tsukuru Tazaki. He had four best friends at school – and by chance all of their names contained a colour. One day Tsukuru Tazaki’s friends announced that they didn’t want to see and talk to him, ever again.
Since that day Tsukuru has been floating through life, unable to form intimate connections with anyone.
The book is published by Harvill Secker. This particular cover design will be available in selected countries. You’ll be able to buy it in UK and Japan.
