Kindle nostalgia: vintage photos of the early Kindle e-readers

Take a look at vintage-looking images of the Kindle e-readers released between 2007 and 2011.

Everything related to electronic books comes and go very fast. All current e-reader models may disappear next year from the market completely.

The life cycle of a Kindle model is 12 to 14 months. You’ll realize your newly bought Kindle is obsolete the first day you hear the rumors about the new one.

All these glossy photos of the brand-new devices that we remember from the time of their release may suddenly become vintage.

That’s why I prepared a series of vintage Kindle poster images. The idea is simple: to take a product picture of a Kindle and add retro filters, grunge effects, and old-school typography.

Why I did that? Vintage is cool. Old print books are cool because they’re vintage.

For most of us, old e-readers are just outdated. It’s not like that. Look at the 1st-generation Kindle, with its out-of-the-box asymmetric shape from the 80s. For me, it’s as cool as Nintendo.

I created these vintage images using simple yet powerful online photo editing tools: iPiccy and Pixlr Express. Products photos come from Amazon Kindle Store.

You’ll learn more about all Kindle generations in our extensive and regularly updated timeline of Kindle e-readers and services.
