If you are shopping in the ebookstore that is using Adobe DRM system (Nook Store, Kobo, or Sony are among them), and if you ever signed up to Adobe to get your device authorized, check out your mailbox for the message from Adobe.
A couple of days ago Adobe informed on their blog about a leak of confidential data of 2.9 million customers. In a cyber attack both Adobe IDs and encrypted passwords were stolen.
What is means is that someone may be now trading your mail+password combination, and someone else may be using it to login to social networks, email services, or payment services like PayPal. To prevent it, you should change your Adobe ID password immediately.
If your credentials were stolen, you received an email to the address which was your Adobe ID login. Double-check your mailbox for the mail from Adobe Customer Care entitled “Important Password Reset Information”.
You’ll have to do go to web address http://www.adobe.com/go/passwordreset and type in an email address to get a new mail from Adobe, where you’ll find a unique link to reset your password.

Password reset won’t deauthorize any of your registered devices, so there is no need to authorize your Nook or Kobo again. The login stays the same, it’s the password that has changed.
You should not only change the password for Adobe, but to any other service that you used the same login+password combination.
We recommend that you also change your password on any website where you use the same user ID or password. In addition, please be on the lookout for suspicious email or phone scams seeking your personal information.
One more sentence as a comment. It’s extremely ironic that a system that is designed to protect the rights of copyright holders, is not able to protect users’ rights to privacy.
