But what to do when you are looking for something unique, or something that fits your special needs? For instance, when you want the case to give your iPad the best possible protection on Earth?

It’s where the original Apple Smart Cover falls short when compared to brands that lead the way in mobile device protection technology. Two names come to mind when you are looking for heavy-duty, military-level protection cases. OtterBox and Griffin.

If you can’t make up your mind what kind of case you want for your new iPad Pro, make sure to check out our overview of the best cases and sleeves for 2017 iPad Pro, for both 10.5 and 12.9-inch models.

You’ll find there unique sleeves (also the ones that include the Apple Pencil holder), but also premium cases with the full smart cover functionality, or sophisticated leather folio cases.

The iconic Defender Series from OtterBox now includes Defender Case for iPad Pro 10.5. The case was designed specifically for the 2017 iPad Pro, and – while you can order it immediately – you’ll have to wait for the shipping from one to even four weeks.

OtterBox Defender iPad Pro 10.5 case has everything a solid heavy-duty case should deliver. It offers three layers of protection: inner shell, outer cover, and screen protector.

The screen protector will keep the brilliant new Retina with ProMotion display flawless, and it doesn’t decrease the level of touchscreen sensitivity. The ports are protected with special covers against dirt, dust, and lint.

There is one more thing about the Defender Series that makes it particularly helpful. Thanks to a special construction, the outer shield doubles as a stand. It lets watch videos or write emails conveniently. You can put the stand both in a horizontal and portrait view.

What about the Apple Pencil? Yes, there is a special place for it, inside the shield stand!

OtterBox iPad Pro 10.5 Defender Series Case is available in two colors: Black and Plum Haze. The case costs $89.95 on Amazon.

If you are looking for the Defender Series case for the 2017 iPad Pro 12.9, you can buy it directly from OtterBox website.

What we love about the Survivor Rugged Folio is that it gives a superb protection while having a traditional folio design, which opens like a book.

The case uses strong hidden magnets to attach and perfectly align the removable tactical grip cover, which resists dirt, grease, or stains. Most importantly, the case can protect the iPad when it drops from 4-foot drops (1.2 meters) onto concrete.

“Combining military-standard protection against drops with a unique Tactical Grip cover design, Survivor Rugged Folio delivers versatile protection for all the ways you use your iPad.”

For the time being the iPad Pro 10.5 Survivor Rugged Folio case is available only on the Griffin website. The price is set at $59.99. It’s just a question of time when it comes to Amazon and other online stores.

Also, so far there is only one color option available – Black. We hope other color versions will join soon.
