Barnes & Noble launched the fifth tablet made in cooperation with Samsung, after Tab 4 (in two sizes), Tab S2, and Tab E.

The new device – Nook Tab A 7 – is basically Samsung’s 7-inch Galaxy Tab A model, introduced in March 2016, and equipped with a Nook software, to help B&N customers manage and consume the content from the Nook Store.
Nook Tab A runs on the latest version of Nook software – 4.6. It offers “an enhanced bookstore experience,” which means that the store and user’s library are available directly from the home screen.
The entry-level tablet from Barnes & Noble features the 1280 × 800 px screen, 8 GB of internal memory, and 1.3GHz Quad-Core processor. It has two cameras: front 2 MP, and rear 5 MP with autofocus and 2x digital zoom.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A Nook 7 – launch details
Barnes & Noble announced the 2016 Nook tablet on August 17, 2016. The device was available for purchase the same day, both in B&N stores across the US and online at bn.com.
The launch price of $139.99 is $10 lower than the price of the 7-inch Galaxy Tab A in Samsung online store.
B&N customers can purchase the new Nook at even the lower price if they trade in or show proof of purchase of any Nook device at any Barnes & Noble store.
The upgrade offer includes an extra incentive for Barnes & Noble Members. They can get for free a case cover for their new Nook, worth $39.95.
To celebrate the launch of Samsung Galaxy Tab A Nook 7, Barnes & Noble adds a free Nook book by Alafair Burke, a page-turning thriller, Long Gone. This offer is valid until the end of August 2016.
It’s worth highlighting that Barnes & Noble offers already over 20 original Nook Tab A 7 covers. These covers are not designed from scratch, but both fit both the 7-inch Nook Tab 4 and Nook Tab A.
However, one of the users has shared the remark that the cover – which was originally designed for Tab 4 – blocks the part of the rear camera in Nook Tab A.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A will eventually replace the older-generation Nook Tab 4, but the latter device is still available in B&N’s online store. You can get it for $129.99 – $10 cheaper than Nook Tab A, and $50 cheaper than at launch.
A software update that’s planned to be released in September 2016 will let Nook Tab A users listen to audiobooks, via seamless access to 80,000 digital audiobooks, including 9,500 free, from Nook Audiobooks store.

As you see, you can get two tablets from Amazon for the price of one from Barnes & Noble.
If you are going to have a tablet – just the tablet – and don’t take too much attention to the comfort of using, the Fire is the easiest way to achieve it.
However, if you are going to use the tablet heavily, the comfort of reading ebooks and watching movies is bigger on the Nook, as the device has a better screen resolution, and therefore pixel density.
