More and more iPad models come with a native support for Apple Pencil.
Apple original digital stylus pen is a great piece of accessory, especially for graphic designers and artists. It offers pressure sensitivity and angle detection, so that you can easily vary line weight, create subtle shading, and produce a wide range of artistic effects.
The only problem is that the price of Apple Pencil is terribly high. There are many users who would love to use the pen with their iPads or iPhones, but such a high level or precision is not what they desperately need.
And there are a lot more affordable alternatives, offered by third-party producers. We’ve listed below our top recommendations that will surely meet different needs and tastes.
An updated overview of the best iPad cases, sleeves, and accessories from around the web. iPad 9.7 2018/2017, iPad Pro 2017 models: 10.5 and 12.9, and older iPad tablets.
7 best stylus pens for iPad and iPhone
Elago Hexa Stylus Pen for iPhone and iPad. From Elago comes a stylus with style. The Hexa series offers a classic look and design, with a hexagonal shape for better grip, and soft touch pen-point for better screen protection.
Best of all, the Elago stylus is available in six stylish desaturated colors with matte finish. You can pick up Chocolate, Coral Blue, or Jean Indigo. ⇢ Amazon – $13.99.
iPens X1 Rechargeable Stylus Pen. iPens is a brand of a China-based producer of tablet and smartphone accessories. The X1 pen is using advanced technologies to make the user feel like using the traditional pen.
A special structure decreases impact stress when tip touches the screen. The surface combines two materials: aluminum and baby-skin plastic. Charge adapter is located in the pen’s button, and connect with micro USB cable via built-in magnet.
iPens X1 is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and most Android-powered devices. It’s offered on Amazon by a few third-party sellers. We’ve picked up the one offering the most affordable price. ⇢ Amazon – $39.99.
Cosmonaut Wide-Grip Stylus. This is a refreshing alternative to long pens that dominate the capacitive touchscreen stylus market. It was designed by Studio Neat to feel like a dry eraser marker: fast, simple, and low fidelity.
The pen’s firm tip feels wonderful against the screen, thanks to a special material that is extremely responsive and glides effortlessly over the glass. You can buy Cosmonaut pen on Studio Neat’s online store, but we’ve also found it on Amazon. ⇢ Amazon – $24.99.
Meko 2nd-generation iPad Disc Stylus 2-pack. It’s one of the best-rated tablet pens on Amazon. The stylus from Meko will work great on all capacitive touchscreens, not only your iPad. It’s made of aluminum, has a steel clip, and comes with an ergonomic non-slip rubber grip.
The stylus has two kinds of tips. On one end there is a disc tip, on the other – fiber tip. The 2nd-generation precision tip is thin and transparent, enabling you to see through.
The pack includes two styluses, four replacement disc tips, and two replacement fiber tips. You can pick up one of the color combinations, where is stylus is black and the other one in a different color, for instance, Rose Gold or Red. ⇢ Amazon – $16.99.
Mixoo 2-in-1 Precision Disc and Fiber Stylus with Replaceable Tips. The stylus comes with two types of tips. One is the micro-knit hybrid fiber tip. The other one is a precision transparent silicon disc stylus. Both are replaceable, and you’ll find spare tips in the box, too.
The Mixoo stylus pen is compatible with iPad and iPhone. It’s made of stainless steel and aluminum (no cheap plastic!), and rubberised grooved grip making holding the pen easy and comfortable.
There are five colors to choose from: Black, Blue, Rose Gold, Purple, and Space Gray. ⇢ Amazon – $12.99.
AmazonBasics Executive Stylus Pen. If all you want for your iPad is a high-rated affordable stylus, there is no better choice than the one from AmazonBasics. It provides a smooth pen-like writing or drawing experience, and is compatible with almost all touchscreen devices.
The stylus is available in four colors. You can also get the 3-pack that includes Black, Silver, and Blue color variants. ⇢ Amazon – $5.99.
ChaoQ Stylus Pen 4-Pack with Replaceable Tips. Here is a solution for the entire family (because you are not the only one to own a touchscreen device, aren’t you?) – get a stylus pen bundle and save a lot of money.
The 4-pack from ChaoQ is one of the best bargains. It includes fiber tip pens in four neutral colors (White, Silver, Black, and Space Gray), and comes with extra parts: 4 fiber tips and 4 rubber tips. And look at the price! ⇢ Amazon – $8.99.
Bonus: Apple Pencil Magnetic Holder
Anyone who considers getting the Apple Pencil sooner or later realizes one more thing is needed: a holder. While there are several iPad Pro cases with built-in Apple Pencil holder, many users prefer a solution that gives more freedom.
Take a look at the little smart accessory from FRTMA. It’s a silicone sleeve that you put on the Apple Pencil. It gives two benefits: improves the grip and enables to attach the pencil to any iPad case with the magnetic cover, which means any case that supports automatic sleep/wake feature.
You can choose from five colors, each one goes very well with white. Besides Red, seen above, you can pick up Lavender or Ice Sea Blue. ⇢ Amazon – $12.99.

Where can I buy iPad accessories?
Are you still in the discovery mood? Check out our favorite online stores where you’ll find more iPad accessories.
Amazon – the best site to find alternatives for the original iPad case. There are currently 50 thousand iPad cases offered on Amazon. It’s a good destination if you are looking for a more affordable case. You’ll find here leather sleeves, smart covers with Apple Pencil holder – in a much wider variety than in Apple’s online store.
eBay – when you’ll go through the branded cases on Amazon, you’ll find out that many covers have a quite similar construction, and differ only in colors. On eBay, you can find the similar cases or accessories for the iPad or iPhone. Most of them are unbranded, and it means you’ll be able to buy them for a lower – sometimes much lower – price.
Otterbox – the producer of the legendary Defender Series cases for several tablets and smartphones is now selling also the Rugged Daily Defence case for the iPad Pro 10.5. The version for the 2017 iPad Pro 12.9 is not available at the time of creating the post.
Etsy – this is our favorite marketplace for handcrafted items. You’ll find here tons of beautiful iPad sleeves and covers. Many of these cases can be customized to your needs. If you want to get a unique, insanely cute sleeve – look no further than Etsy.
