Currently, the Kindle Unlimited sign-up page shows information – under the headline “New to Kindle Unlimited” – that you can read current issues of popular magazines free with your membership (see screenshot above).

On the image, we see covers of such magazines as GQ, National Geographic Traveller, People, Shape, Bon Appétit, or Bloomberg Businessweek.

How long are magazines being offered via Kindle Unlimited? The sign-up page was redesigned a few weeks ago, but I haven’t noticed anything about magazines back then. Also, Amazon hasn’t made any official announcement about that so far.

A few days ago Amazon Prime Reading launched. It’s the new addition to Prime subscription service and gives free access to popular magazines, among other items.

It looks quite possible that when Amazon was negotiating the terms with media companies, all subscription services were being discussed, not only Prime Reading but also Kindle Unlimited as well as Kindle Newsstand.

Below, there is another screenshot showing that Kindle Unlimited now lets read magazines for free. It’s on the landing page of Kindle Newsstand.
