The newly upgraded premium Amazon e-reader lets you control the warmth of its display, helping avoid sleep problems.
The 2nd-generation Kindle Oasis was launched back in 2017 and would need an urgent update to keep in as the most advanced e-reader offered by Amazon.
Today Kindle Oasis has got a minor upgrade that would make many avid readers wonder why it’s still not offered in other Kindle models.
The e-reader offers a display warmth control. It’s something you may have known already from competitive brands – Nook and Kobo. One would wonder what has stopped Amazon from introducing this helpful feature much earlier.
In the new Kindle Oasis, you can adjust the warmth of the screen, or – in other words – reduce the level of blue light.
Blue light, which is natural for daytime, is not healthy when you are exposed to it in the evening or night. It may cause sleep problems, as your mind thinks it’s not time to sleep.
When you shift screen shade to a warmer color – which, in turn, is natural for nighttime – you will find it much more comfortable to read in the evening or in poor light conditions.
One thing that’s worth noting is that the warmth of the Kindle Oasis 2019 display is colder than what you will see in other e-readers. I’m not talking about the intensity of the warmth – this you can adjust, together with the display’s brightness. I’m talking about the position on the spectrum. The warmth in Oasis is “lemon,” while in Nook GlowLight Plus, for instance, it’s orange or light brown.
Nevertheless, the new feature is something worth keeping in mind – but I’m not sure it will convince you to buy the new e-reader. I personally will wait for the release of the next-generation Kindle Paperwhite which – I’m now certain – will also have an adjustable display warmth.
The rest of the features is the same. The e-reader is waterproof, sports the 7-inch display with a resolution of 1680 × 1264 pixels, and supports Audible audiobook playback via connected Bluetooth speakers or earphones.
The launch of the not-so-new Kindle Oasis explains why the earlier-generation model has got an unprecedented price cut for Father’s Day 2019 (by the way, the deal is still here – you can save $50 on the Graphite variant).
The newly announced Oasis is already available for pre-order and will start shipping on July 24, 2019.
