Galaxy Tab 4 for schools comes with a tough case and educational apps

Samsung has just launched in the US the new Galaxy Tab 4 Education, fulfilling its earlier promise to launch a tablet designed to support computing initiatives in K-12 schools.

When it comes to hardware it’s just the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 with a special rugged, heavy-duty case, that will survive intensive use and a couple of drops from a desk or rucksack.

What makes the tablet really interesting is that it integrates with Google Play for Education and can be managed easily via a web-based console.

Through integration with Google Play for Education, the new Galaxy Tab gives educators access to a wide selection of teacher-approved apps, books and videos, helping them deliver more engaging and personalized learning to each student. Acquiring content is easy too, thanks to easy-to-manage purchase orders.

The Galaxy Tab 4 Education will be compatible with a future upgrade to Samsung School, its interactive classroom management solution that combines with classroom displays and other technology.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 4 for schools has 1280x by 800 px WXGA display, 1.5GB RAM and 16GB ROM memory, and runs on Android 4.4 Kit Kat. It has a MicroSD Card Slot allowing for up to 64GB of additional storage. It features 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI and USB 2.0 ports.

The classroom-ready tablet from Samsung is priced at $369.99, which is $20 more than the 16GB Galaxy Tab 4 10.1.
