Meet Codex Silenda, a project originated by the American designer Brady Whitney. He came up with the idea of the book at his final year at Iowa State University.

Codex Silenda is a five-page book made of wood. What makes is incredible is the fact that each page is a puzzle. You have to solve the first puzzle to release the bolt that locks the next page.

The book is not made from paper, but laser-cut wood. The beautiful steampunk design makes it a fabulous decor in a living room or a home library, and a challenge for everyone who visits your home.

The most important part of each book is the story. Codex Silenda is not a random set of five puzzles. This book has a story. We follow an apprentice in Da Vinci’s Workshop who encounters the same Codex.

The Codex acts as a trap and as a test to see whether or not the apprentice is worthy of Da Vinci’s tutelage; can you help him escape the Codex and discover it’s secrets within?

Codex Silenda was already backed on Kickstarter. The project was funded in just 6 hours! The number of backers exceeded 2.5 thousand, and the total number of money raised is over $200,000, compared to the goal set at $30,000.
