Nowadays, when a growing number of readers choose the convenience of digital books, many book lovers realize that to enjoy reading fully, they desperately need one factor that’s missing – the smell of paper books.
A few years ago, only Frostbeard Studio offered scented candles designed for book and library lovers.
The success of Old Books or Bookstore candles from Frostbeard ignited a demand for scented candles that bring back the scent of paper books or old libraries.
Now you can choose from a variety of scents from a growing number of producers. Werther & Gray is among our favorite destinations. The company’s name refers to Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther and Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray.
The candles from Werther & Gray are inspired by art, history, and culture. Eleven scents refer to books and literature.
Antique Books is Werther & Gray’s original recipe that replicates the scent of aged books.
The inspiration for this candle begins with the fragrant chemicals generated by the breakdown of material in aged paper.
On top of that, Books lovers can choose from a number of scents inspired by classic authors and characters they created. Among the most popular literary candles from Werther & Gray, are Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, Flannery O’Connor, and Edgar Allan Poe.
Each candle from a literary collection is based on the main fragrance of aged paper offered by Antique Books, and combines it with a note unique to a writer or character.
All candles from Werther & Gray are sold in a glass jar with a stylish vintage label. The company uses vegan, non-toxic, food grade, biodegradable wax.
The candles are handmade in small batches. Each one costs $18. If your order exceeds $100, you’ll get a 15% discount with a promo code OVER100.
