August is usually the time of back-to-school deals of all kinds, but you can also save money on favorite ebooks.
Major ebookstores – including Amazon’s Kindle Store, B&N Nook Store, and Kobo – run summer reading promotions, attractive enough to check out the offered titles.
Don’t expect top bestsellers, though. You can’t find J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child or First Comes Love by Emily Giffin in the catalogs of discounted titles.
Instead, summer ebook deals include solid mid-list titles from most popular categories, with newly-released titles, as well as top-rated books.
Obviously, you can wait until Cyber Monday to pack your Kindle, Nook, or Kobo with tons of discounted titles, but why wait if you can save a lot right now? Plus, most certainly, the selection of books in November will be different.
Below, you’ll find a quick overview of current ebook deals at major ebookstores. Are any of these books on your summer reading list?
All currently discounted titles are listed in August Kindle book deals.
The list includes Kindle Daily Deal, where books change daily, but if you scroll down the page, you’ll see the list of over 600 titles with prices being cut till the end of August.
Among them, you’ll find The House by the Lake by Ella Carey, a thrilling history of the family between 1930s and the present.
Viktor E. Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning is among the most influential works of psychiatric literature since Sigmund Freud.
Once We Were Brothers is Ronald H. Balson’s gripping story about two boys, who find themselves on opposite sides of the Holocaust.
You can browse the entire list, but also filter result to your favorite category, for instance:
- literature and fiction – 313 titles,
- mystery, thriller & suspense – 136 titles,
- romance – 255 titles,
- science-fiction & fantasy – 55 titles.
Most books cost no more than $2.99, and Amazon claims you can save up to 80% on selected titles. As much as 250 of the featured books are available with Audible Narration. 350 titles are eligible for Kindle Unlimited. Almost all have Word Wise enabled.
Make sure to check out the deal on Kindle ebook bundles. Until August 31, 2016, you can save up to 60% on 35 bundles from romance, science-fiction, mystery, and literary fiction categories.
Barnes & Noble offered discounted Nook books in June. Now they are replaced with August Summer Reading Nook Book Sale.
There are 100 titles on the list. However, not all of them seem to be discounted. Such is The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories by Ken Liu, offered at a regular price of $7.99.
When you sort the result by price (from low to high), you’ll see the $0.99 book first. The other way to browse the cheapest books only is to select “Under $5” in the left-hand sidebar.
Among the most interesting books, there is Alis Franklin’s Liesmith, the first book from The Wyrd series that reimagines mythology for a modern world.
The Enemy by Charlie Higson is, according to Publishers Weekly, the book where “Lord of the Flies meets 28 Days Later.”
If you are a Nook e-reader or tablet owner, you’d love to know that original Nook cases and accessories are 20% off until August 6, 2016. Not selected accessories, but the entire offer.
You can also save up to 75% on clearance Nook covers and accessories.
Kobo’s offer for summer is themed with a tagline Can’t miss books at can’t resist prices.
The exact number of featured titles is hard to find, but when I counted the lists in popular categories, it already makes a couple of hundred titles.
Kobo recommends First Kill by the bestselling author Robert Swartwood. A biomedical thriller by Pamela Callow, called Damaged, is a first book in the bestselling Kate Lange thriller series that has been loved by over a quarter of a million readers.
What’s also very attractive is the list of discounted Kobo ebook bundles. You’ll find here The Network Series by Katie Cross, and Mark McKay’s The Severance Trilogy.
Just a reminder that you can take part in Kobo summer contest in which you will have a chance to win the waterproof Kobo Aura H2O, as well as add up to $100 worth of credit to your account.
