Kobo Daily Deal is up and running in Canada, US, and UK
Previous deals were misleading in a way that users got the impression Kobo was not going to seriously enter the daily deal area.
In September 2010, it was a one-week promotion made together by Kobo and Carina Press. In April 2012 one of Mobileread users noticed a Today’s Deal list on Kobo. It turned out that is was a part of the promotion run by the publisher, who wanted to have a discounted price on the same day in all major ebookstores.

8 reasons you don’t need a case cover for your e-reader
– May 13, 2022
Apparently, the deal section that started before Christmas is the real Kobo Daily Deal. I almost missed it. It’s available only for users of the new web interface (US, UK, Canada, among others).
Geographic restrictions applied by different web interface make it difficult to track changes. I used Wayback Machine to find out whether Kobo Daily Deal was a regular offer.
The answer is “yes”. Since December 13, Kobo has offered one discounted book per day.
Kobo hasn’t issued any press release about Kobo Daily Deal, yet. There is, however, one more proof the section has launched. In mid-December American Booksellers Association shared a news snippet about Kobo Daily Deal. It came together with a special banner, as well as information how to add affiliate link to it.
How to find Kobo Daily Deal
Kobo Daily Deal is available on the homepage, right under main navigation bar. It actually links to a section underneath, so you can also scroll down to reveal it.
Today’s deal is Lost & Found by Jacqueline Sheehan, “a poignant and unforgettable tale of love, loss, and moving on….with the help of one not-so-little dog”. The book costs $1.99, so the price level is similar to Kindle Daily Deal or Nook Daily Find.
As I mentioned already, the Kobo Daily Deal section is only visible (=available) for users in countries recognized by Kobo as “major”.
I’ve used Hola! browser extension to check out Kobo ebookstore from different countries. Kobo Daily Deal is available in Canada, US, and UK. In Germany, Italy, and France, although users in these countries have access to a new interface, Kobo Daily Deal is not offered.
