Besides the color and special offers, you can now toggle between getting Kindle 8 with or without Kindle Unlimited subscription (see the screenshot above).
The version with the free 3-month Kindle Unlimited plan costs the same as the one without it. It’s $79.99 (a variant with ads) or $99.99 (a variant without ads).
Having in mind that the monthly Kindle Unlimited fee is $9.99, you save $29.97. If you get the subscription for the first time, you’ll be eligible for one month of the free trial anyway, so your total saving would be $19.98.
Add the Kindle (8th generation) with 3-month Kindle Unlimited option to your shopping cart, and the subscription will start the moment the purchase is successfully placed.
In other words, the subscription clock starts ticking before you actually receive the Kindle. However, you can start using Kindle Unlimited on a Kindle app on your smartphone or tablet.
What you have to keep in mind is that Kindle Unlimited subscription will automatically renew (and you will be charged immediately) three months after the day of the Kindle purchase.
If you want to get Kindle 8 version with Kindle Unlimited just to explore eligible books, and don’t want to continue the membership, make sure to cancel the subscription any time within the free 3-month period. You can manage your Kindle Unlimited subscription here.
Just a reminder that the newest 4th-generation Kindle Paperwhite is still on sale. You can save $30 on the basic version ($99.99 instead of $129.99), but please be reminded that this special offer doesn’t include the 6-month free Kindle Unlimited plan the e-reader came in the first place.
