Evolution of reading: scroll, codex, ereader (picture)

A fantastic article from The New York Times describes how the way we read evolves over time. It all started from a scroll. And scroll is also a way to read in digital times – when you take into consideration how touch-controlled screens work.

Most of us need a gesture of page turning to be reassured that we are reading the book. User interfaces of e-readers and e-reading apps are doing a good job in bringing this feeling back.
