The American Express Spending & Saving Tracker Survey, released in August, shows some very interesting facts about back-to-school spending.

The survey of 2,000 parents predicts a further increase in technology spending. 50% of parents say they’ll purchase some type of electronic device as part of their kids’ back-to-school lists. That’s a 14% increase compared to last year’s survey.

Parents plan to spend as much as $1,094 on supplies for their children – an increase of 26% over last year. Also, this year 15% of parents plan to buy tablets (8% last year).

Interestingly, already now 70% of parents say their child is using an electronic device for learning. 44% claim their kids use tablets.
