Yanko Design has featured recently a concept of a reading & sharing tool called Kuote. The idea of this nifty device is genuinely brilliant: to grab text from a paper book and make it instantly available for sharing with your online friends.
This is possible thanks to optical character recognition technology (OCR), which can detect the edge of each character and translate it into a digital format. You can highlight a text as if you were using a marker and send a selected part as a message to Twitter or Facebook.
Kuote was designed by Xu Tao, Wang Junfeng, Christina Yang & Gong Yanyan and won the 2011 Red Dot Design concept award.
