Barnes & Noble introduces 101 Nook Books for Under $2.99

Barnes and Noble - 101 nook books under $2.99

With the beginning of new year Barnes & Noble made some changes in the website. A couple of new sections were added under Customer Favorites to help easier browse for most interesting Nook titles. There is a new section called 101 Nook Books for Under $2.99. It lists over 100 titles (not exactly 101), that are “gripping thrillers, steamy romances, former bestsellers”.

In fact the section is Nook Daily Find x 101. Most of books featured on Nook Daily Find are priced around $3, so the price level is exactly the same. This makes coming back to B&N site to check Nook Daily Find much less justified.

It’s a bit different in Kindle Store. They’ve got the Kindle Daily Deal and Kindle Books for $3.99 or Less. Kindle Daily Deal books are usually priced $0.99, in four categories now, and no other Kindle bargain can beat it, so people visit Amazon’s site very often – just to check current daily deals. And as I wrote some time ago, deals are intended to generate traffic, not to sell featured books.

Barnes & Noble does one thing better, though. The list of 101 Nook Books for Under $2.99 is being refreshed not at the beginning of each month (like in Kindle Store), but every two weeks.

Don’t expect bestsellers on the list. You should rather use it to browse for deals in the genres you like to read. If we sort the list by best sales, we see on top places Rainshadow Road by Lisa Kleypas or The Duke Is Mine by Eloisa James. Also, there is only one book that costs $0.99 – Miranda Neville’s The Amorous Education of Celia Seaton.
